So because it is t a common occurrence with a three month deterrent, it wouldn't be a common occurrence after that...anybody think Mike really signed Ichiro to win? he made the same offer i did and that's why i wanted ichiro. ichiro is 33 and on a 3-year, 25m deal. do you see the suitors for that deal? is mike busy lining up a deal for ichiro? is it why i wanted giles or sanchez? no, but bc i have a bad team and fa didn't go well, dealing them should be something i strongly consider. instead i can't. for multiyear contracts, this is basically a rule to keep good players on good teams You can't? Really? Or you can just not for three months of a multi year deal, and unless I'm mistaken(I'm not) it doesn't bar trade talks or posts until then, just the processing of the deal itself

ok, so by that logic what does the rule accomplish as a deterrent?
i'll come back to what i originally said: it's a pointless rule and the only one of its sort. it doesn't belong.

youre arguing its not a deterrent from signing and flipping guys and hey, i mostly agree. my problem is its a big overreach, bc with all other assets we're free to constantly change our minds and flip pieces, but if FA plans go awry or a good deal comes around, FA assets are frozen for 3/4 of a season's trading period. it's dumb. d-u-m-b.

Mike has to keep a talented player on his roster for three months, he paid the "penalty"...had it been I saw no examples, you woulda just said see, it doesnt happen, so why have the rule, its a deterrent and penalty, that doesnt mean it stops every time. Horrible

JUST LIKE THE REAL RULE. I wonder why they have it in the MLB...You can still post a trade whenever you want, see Spencer and Nanz with Rivera, it just wont be processed until the 1st of July. So you can get a deal done now, know you have the assets, and move on from there...you act like this is some unfair rule, when in reality it applies to every single team signing an FA.

Horrible i dunno what youre saying here tbh i dont get why mike should have to pay a penalty for signing a player. i dont see any evidence he or anyone who signs a guy to a multiyear is doing so for unacceptable purposes. but yeah, i definitely think the good gms like this rule to punish bad gms who try to take their players. that much i agree with. and i think it sucks.

no. who are u to determine if someone signed a guy to a multi year reasonable deal did so just to trade him? because if a team signed a player to legitimately win, and wants to win still....they won't trade him ,or be bothered by keeping him for 3 months. It's pretty clear why you hate this rule, you are tanking RIGHT NOW, you don't want to keep Sweeney or Ryan, because they are good and old...but you signed them anyway...now why exactly was that
