I like the idea of helping sucky teams. I do think we're at the point where the rich are only going to continue to get richer. I'll get the ball rolling here with a couple of ideas.
1. Quasi Profit Sharing
So the one thing I don't want to do is penalize good teams for being good, both winning and financially-wise. So this isn't going to be a luxury tax or anything.
We'll start with a pot of board cash. $20m, $30m, whatever we decide. We then take the bottom 5 teams or any teams under 'x' amount of wins. Add up their win totals, then divide their individual win total by the aggregate to get a percentage. Then apply that percentage to the pot of board cash and that's how much that team would receive - just for losing.
Obviously teams who incur tanking rule penalties would be excluded. Need to play by the rules to get the benefit.
Maybe the pool of money is determined based each year by RNG at the end of the season. 10-30m or something. That way teams don't tank just for the cash.
This would help teams improve their players.
2. Compensation Cash
I don't like doing compensation picks. It could get messy really quickly. Instead how about compensation board cash for players you lose? This would obviously affect every team, but it would be nice for small market teams who can't afford those $20m contracts to get some cash to improve their other players.
I just have no idea how we determine type A, type B, type C, or whatever. Right now I'm leaning towards me just saying who is what, but I would be open to having a committee.
There would have to be a rule where if you don't resign the guy during the season, but you do during FA then you give the cash back.
I don't think there should be a requirement to offer an extension for a guy. If you want the cash over the player then so be it.
Yeah so a couple ideas to get things started. Any others? Try to expand on your idea when you post and don't just post one sentence. That's useless.

go purely by stats, and the team signing has to give the cash

Hesitant to make signing team pay because I know somebody won't have the cash and then we end up having to do a board bid for the player and that's just annoying. Would rather just give the cash.

Would rather just give the cash. let this be a case where you dont have to have the board cash, the only negative situation allowed, and you cant spend til positive

Well you reward them for being good, so why the double standard? The best way to pile up the board cash is to have a good team. just sayin Mind you I don't really mind one way or another, just happened to notice that as I was analyzing some stuff, in familiarizing myself with the league.

That's pretty much the point. Encourages teams to be competitive and make moves to win.

right, but what that does is make it that much harder for a bad team to compete. The good team already has the good players and then they are getting cash to make their bad players better.
Also the game has this mechanic of some of the best players only willing to play for winning teams, the bad teams don't have the money coming in to compete with contracts, etc.
Just saying that the current system is set up to keep the wealthy wealthy, and the poor, poor.
As previously just taking part in a philosophical debate, nothing more. I like my chances of making my team into one that can compete.

Thats a pretty narrow view of how to build a team. Draft and trades offer wayyyyy more value than free agency.
And winning is a small part of it. Money rules all in this game.

I like the compensation. It was frustrating only generating 84 mil with 97 fan interest and going to the World Series.
Picks or cash for losing players.
Make a comity to decide what type of player

I just dont like only getting 85 mil revenue with 100 FI Same. I max out at around $87M each year I'm at 100 FI and I'm winning around 110 games a year over the past 5 seasons. It's ridiculous.
