The Following is the Opinions of Greeme's compared to Shale:
1) This year what is going to be your biggest obstacle?
Probably remembering the tanking rules. I have to win 53 games I think. Or 43. I'm not sure. I think different people posted different things. Either way, I'm not really trying to lose, not really trying to win either but I don't really care what pick I have. Ashes seems like he has thrown I bunch of curveballs in the draft so 5-10 could be more or less the same.
2) Top 5 GM's in the league
Really hard to figure this out. Having a big market helps a lot I think. Having luck helps more. And being able to change rules whenever you want helps even more.
Ashes, Play, pirate Steve, Spencer, Broph (I better get 5s from all of you).
Ashes has been dominating, Play has built up a team which will compete for the next decade. Pirate Steve always seems to be in the running, Spencer has his work cut out for him now – he has to rebuild and nobody wants to pay his price for his geezers, Broph is building a good team though he seems to be losing patience.
3) Bottom 5 GM's in the League
Jeez, why do you ask questions like this? It just guarantees that we end up with bad grades. Guys get insulted they aren't top 5; guys get insulted they are bottom 5. Just not smart.
Kobe, hf, stoolfan (at least you will still give us a 3), dale (sorry), game (sorry).
I don't really know the new guys that well and it is really hard to know who is good and bad without seeing different guys in different situations etc. Game and Dale are 2 of the most well liked gms and that is more important than being good gms. So give me 3s anyway. Kobe is probably bottom 5 in likeability also.
4) Biggest concern moving forward with your organization
Lack of patience. Bad pds. I seem to have terrible pd luck.
I think that we should be a good team within a few years if I can be patient and not move my guys for older guys. I also have to hold off on fa signings for the next year or 2 and build up some game cash. I'm not sure if I have the patience for that though. Bad pds are really annoying; just when you think that the team is ready to guy somebody gets knocked out. My pitching is readier than my hitting so at some point I will have to add some younger pitchers but that is 5 or so years away and not a major concern. I really like where I am in my 2nd rebuild year.
5) What are your plans to overcome this issue.
No real plan, I 'm always game for a good trade so even if it goes against my plan to wait I will keep trading. It just isn't that fun to have a bad team year after year. As for the bad pds I will sacrifice a goat to the ootp pd gods. And I will send some cash to ashes paypal account. Gotta cover all bases.
6) Top 5 up and coming teams in the future.
Minnesota – Styro definitely has patience. He has been tanking for years and his team is set to dominate the al if he holds the course. With zim and Nolasco they will be a tough out in the playoffs once the hitting develops.
San Diego – Only in the 2nd year of a rebuild they have had a bit of good luck and they could be back in the thick of things within a few years. They overpaid but added an ace which is a must in the playoffs.
Chicago (N) – I mean they are already pretty much there but they have Bryant, Solar, Olt and Gallo on the way up. Still not happy about the Solar deal. Ah well; easy come, easy go.
Florida – Kinda annoying that Chicago and Florida are on this list. They both seem to get a lot of good pds. Maybe they know something the rest of us don't.
Oakland – Strasburg, Derrico and Sims are a trio of stud pitchers under 25. The pitching is even more impressive when you realize that there aren't a lot of good young pitchers out there. Add that to Trout and they will be a top team within a few years.
7) Top 5 Teams that will fall off in the upcoming years.
Red Sox – 137 mil payroll and the oldest team in the universe. Also has cleaned out his farm and has no picks.
Cleveland Indians – Kinda like the Red sox but at least they have some talent in the minors.
San Fran – Posey and the Geezers. 127 mil payroll. A year or 2 and they crash
Arizona – They wouldn't be here if Daaaaaaarrrryyyylll (dareel? Daryle? Darle?) didn't keep saying he will sell. Payroll is a little high but he has a bunch of talent which isn't too old. If he sells now he could build a solid base.
Cincinnati – Not sure why they win so much. They aren't as good as their record. They are getting older. Also closing in on 100 mil payroll.
8) Who annoys you the most on this forum
Kobe and Break. Kobe never has anything to say but that doesn't stop him from posting stupidity. Break has a Brill in whining and his number rating has hit 15.
9) What people do you enjoy conversing with on this forum
Conversing might not be the right word. I don't think that I have ever had a serious conversation with anybody. The best posters are probably play, spencer and dale.
10) Predictions for the upcoming real life MLB who wins it all?
ALCS: Detroit over Baltimore
NLCS: Washington over St. Louis
World Series: Washington over Detroit
