Fenway Gets A Little Bigger
How Fenway will look starting in 2012. Beautiful!
The Boston Red Sox are proud to announce seating renovations effective this year! With the team's second pennant in 3 years in the fold, the team looks to let more fans in to see their beloved team every day! In the coming years the Red Sox hope to bring it's fanbase more than one World Series Title, and is poising itself to make a legitimate run at the title every year this amazing core stays together. We're aiming to show we can bring the big one home for the first time in over 100 years in Boston.
Fenway has long held 37,493 fans a game in it's seats, but after the renovations to the right field roof, green monster, and a new deck level that extends from the edge of the monster to the right field roof, the seating capacity will allow 12507 more seats in the stadium, bring the grand total seating capacity in Fenway to 50,000. 50,000 seats will hopefully be more than enough for the raucous crowds that Fenway is famous for exhibiting, with some of the most rabid fans in the BBSBL.
Construction costs totalled 20,007,000, of which 3,000,000 will be taken from the teams stadium fund, and 17,007,000 will be taken from the teams in game funds. This money is to be paid from both accounts specified up front in full immediately. This spending from team funds won't affect the Red Sox ability to be players for another WS Championship due to the cost controlled tactics of the GM Steve Crowe this offseason when he retained all of his key players and cut 24 million from the payroll at the same time as adding key new relievers, a hole the team was looking to fix. They did so by sparing no expense to bring in 2 more bonafied closers to join the pen behind legendary Red Sox closer Mike Adams. Peter Moylan and Chad Bradford will bring a much sturdier pen outlook when added to the future HOF Bob Howry and the two already acquired through trade relievers of Brian Tallet and Ian Snell. Snell will also be able to serve as a starter in the unfortunate event one of the 4 Aces of Boston go down with an injury. Super Ace Mark Beurhle commented on the new and improved bullpen, stating "This new bullpen will help the other starters and I not feel so much pressure to go deep into games to secure a victory. No offense, but management definitely overlooked it's relief needs last year, and we all got overworked because of it. Management came to the 6 pitchers that remained staffed on the team and asked for our input on who we wanted in our pen, since while we have a top 5 lineup in the league, the pitching could have been [HASH]1 last year if it wasn't for the lack of depth in the pen."
Thanks and we look forward to a great 2012!
