With new ownership comes big changes. After a season in the slum its no surprise to see a change coming to Citi Field and the team that calls it home. Ownership has decided to make the stadium more hitter friendly after bringing in a lot of big name players this off season.

Shortly after the close of free agency yesterday Met's ownership was quoted saying "big changes are coming, not only to the lineups but to everything about this team". This must have been exactly what they were referring to. This major stadium renovation takes what was a pitcher friendly park and should turn it around exactly the opposite, with the biggest change seeing the walls drop 3 feet in almost all areas of the park.
With a brand new lineup and pitching staff we took to the field to get a few opinions from the players.
"I don't mind it at all" said starting pitcher Francisco Rodriquez. "I'm confident that the elite pitching staff that has been brought together here in New York wont let these changes even enter their minds. We are a confident bunch who all know that our stuff is good enough to go out and get a win for our team, in any park, any given night.
"Brilliant is what i would call it" Said first basemen Carlos Lee. "Ownership brought in some truly elite hitters this off season. Most of us have pop in our bat, so a change like this will benefit us all. The clubhouse is ecstatic over the changes and everyone is looking forward to a great year at the plate"
So it seems as though these changes by the ownership group are sitting extremely well with the players which is the best case scenario when a change this large is put into play. Especially when you have an almost entirely new team just assembled.
When asking the manager, we got this response from Chevy. "Cannot complain one bit about the changes that are being made. I approached ownership about stadium changes and in no time at all we had worked out something that we knew would be great for our team. After a rather embarrassing first season behind the wheel of this team, i had full support of the ownership and full financial backing to get the players i wanted at the price i needed to pay them and i could not be more thrilled and excited for the season to get underway".
He continued and said, "The stadium changes are costing the team 10 million dollars. This is money that myself and the ownership are hoping to see come back with fans supporting our newly assembled team and coming to see what should be a more exciting brand of baseball".
Some may look at this change and think maybe its too soon. Why not let the new team run for a season and see where you sit afterwards. But the Mets have made up their minds and not looked back and it looks as though they are heading themselves in the right direction for a potential playoff spot. To pass Florida for the division title would be a crazy feat, but a wildcard is by no means out of the picture for this team.
