Kansas City, MO
So the Royals fans expect the same thing every year...no playoffs. The fans in KC are much maligned for sure, but the outlook is actually bright for Royals fans. The powder blue team of the Midwest has a bevy of talented players and after a 90 loss season, the team better improve quickly. The team has re-signed several key players and look to the future in the form of several bright prospects.
Carlos Beltran
Beltran who tore up A-Ball this past season may get a LONG look in Spring Training this year. He has a sweet stroke and would really add some pop to a developing lineup. Damon / Beltran / Tucker would look pretty solid next year.
Jeremy Giambi
Jeremy had a nice season in AA NW Arkansas last year and was one of the most disciplined hitters in the game. Couple that with his improving glove, Giambi may make the big step to Kauffman next season. He's only 22 so he has plenty of time to smoke pot and go to Vegas.
Glendon Rusch
Glendon don't call him Glen, has emerged as one of the top young southpaws in baseball. Coming off a solid season in AA, Glendon piled up solid innings while keeping his walk total low and providing Kansas City with a potential Rosado, Appier, Rusch trio very soon. The lefty is poised to make the big club as soon as this year.
Several other young players are already making an impact at the major league level. Rookie of the Year Jose Rosado looks to be a stopper for years to come. Ronnie Belliard, Mike Sweeney and potential closer Jamie Bluma give the Royals some key components moving forward. If the Royals can sure up some depth during the off-season, this team can improve really fast.
