1. Seems like its time for the Mariners to be relevant again. Are you excited for this off-season? Excited to be competing again? Do you like rebuilding?
Nanz - I hate rebuilding no doubt about it. Its just long and boring sort of like my dick. LOL jk bro relax! But yeah its just such a long process because the seasons are so long. Its not like BBS where you can fully rebuild in like 2 weeks LOL. As far as the being excited… well I’m pumped baby! I can’t wait for this off-season, it should be sick for us. Our starting 5 should be pretty filthy with Harden Soriano Krod Fultz and Myette. Our bullpen is actually pretty damn good with Foulke Marte Fuentes Frasor. AND then you have our lineup and that’s just like come on what! We have Jeter Trot up leading off… two guys with brilliant hits LOL. Then we have Ross who can be the best hitter in the world next year and Arod! That is so hot. I think what im most excited for is the fact that Cano and Votto I think im gonna call up YEEE I don’t see why not! I have the money why not IRI these fuckers and bring them to the big show. OH and I also have Crawford coming up lol. So many good players on this squad and I love them all! ALL!
Me - Ya. OOTP takes some patience. So many more options. So many more things to consider. The financial part of the game makes things much more difficult as well. Tanking for more then like 1 or 2 years is almost a killer. FI drops, markets drop, revenue drops. Its scary. Plus the OOTP sim engine isn't kind to spects. Pretty much no rhyme or reason to be honest.
2. You took 3 seasons to rebuild. And you won some before you rebuilt.
bbs56.net/BBSBL3/BBSBL3/Site/team13fh.html
Some key pieces you traded for, some you drafted. How is rebuilding in OOTP different then in FBB?
Nanz - Rebuilding is much different here and in FBB without a question. First you have the fact that its baseball not basketball LOL. In FBB I could have never had the chance to rebuild around arod and Soriano… it wouldn’t have allowed me to tank lol. You need nothing on your team AT ALL to be able to properly tank in FBB. Also in FBB there a little more certainty I think? Sure a guy could bust but overall you sorta knew what to expect. If a guy had 1 TC you kinda knew he wasn’t going to develop so you could deal him away … here a guy is a beast then the next thing you know he gets a PD hit out of nowhere and ruins everything. It works both ways tho so you just never know. Overall I think rebuilding is probably easier in FBB and faster by a lot. I guess I gotta wait and see what this team can do tho.
Me - Agreed. FBB is much more predictable. You do know after a TC or two how a player is gonna be. In OOTP a guy could be a stud for 5 years and then take a PD hit and suck in 1. Its just impossible to know. Erbes rules allow for more certainty, but even the most active GM doesn't have unlimited board cash. Eventually a spect will fall through the cracks.
3. Financially overall you look relatively sound.
bbs56.net/BBSBL3/BBSBL3/Site/team13fi.html
Your revenue is high 60's without winning. How much do you think youll make this year? How much can you add in salary this offseason?
Nanz - Well I don’t really know how much I will make this season cause im no gypsy lol but it should be more than the last couple of years for sure. I know I have a much better team than anyone else in the division so winning it can only help our financials no doubt. I think I would fill comfortable adding another 10 to 15 mil this off-season but the truth is umm I don’t know more key pieces LOL I have plenty of them. OF I have Dye Trot Crawford and Swisher soon… then infield arod jeter cano votto and ross LOL lord lord lord. I mean how much more could you want. AM I RIGHT! There are a few good Fas out there tho so I might spend some money regardless and take advantage of the market.
Me - Well it is important to add talent in FA when the talent is there. Pushing the envelope is important. Using cash you have now instead of losing it to your SF. Plus FA periods suck sometimes. Sometimes they are so horrible. So when this type of FA class comes along its important to take advantage.
4. If you have a decent amount in available money, who will you go after in FA?
bbs56.net/BBSBL3/BBSBL3/Site/pagents.html
If you don't want to name specific players, then what positions are you looking at?
Nanz - Def not looking to name specific players LOL but I mean there are some obvious once there that I could take a look and see what I can offer…. I might make a bi splash and sign 1 stud for like 20 mil but who knows. The plan would probably be to try to sign good backups and good arms for the bullpen. Our bullpen needs more depth so that’s something we are gonna look into without question. The more I think about the more I want to make a big splash so we can really take the league by storm… so who knows babay! I love this game!
Me - Depth is important. Sometimes guys get injured or dont sim like youd think. Plus do you really wanna bring up all your young players at once? Start all the clocks at the same time and have them all hit FA at the same time? Sounds like a bad idea. So even if you dont hit FA big go out and get depth. Get role players. Bench guys. MR's. Etc.
5. When your adding talent do you look more at the trade market or at Free Agency? If you plan to trade more which assets are you willing to move? If you plan more towards FA what are your thoughts on salary per position? Or gauging and judging available players due to age and talent? Do you want to go younger or older?
Nanz - What the fuck kind of question is this LOL is this my thesis for my PHD? Lol ummm I’ll tell you a few things about my thoughts on the above stated question LOL Trade market or Free agency I look at both. When I have a need I’ll go look at players on available teams and see fi they are willing to make a deal. If they have a block im sure we can work out a deal unless they are crazy about their players value. Ive dealt with broph play break.. etc pretty much everyone here. So when I have a need I go to the blocks and see if I can address it that way. FA to me is tricky and almost not worth it… I feel like people overpay for their players way too much so youre stuck having to offer so much money for a player who just isn’t worth it. I’ll make a few offers but I doubt I get anyone. As far as young or old players I love young players no doubt. I mean we all do because we want them to stick around and be good for a while. BUT right now I don’t really care because I have the studs I just need more solid pieces around them to win so if that mean picking up a 36 year old so be it… if it helps us win HEY OH!
Me - It is important to use both. Sometimes guys slip through the cracks in FA though. Its important to look at whos offering for who. A player that has no offers may go cheap in Day 4 or 5. As for trade market, sometimes teams go over budget and need to drop salary. In that case players may be cheap. So ya, come up and get some cheap talent. Keep your top spects and surround them with role players. Easy peezey lemon squeezy.
6. Emerald City Bombers. So many Yankees. Name the 5 Yankees you wanted to get coming into the league. Curious if you have all 5 already. Why did you want these guys?
Nanz - LOL so many YANKEES IS SO RIGHT! No surprise I love my yanks but I love my Arod too HEYOH. The top 3 I wanted were arod jeter and cano… and I got them fools so im happy with that YEEE. Then theres overbay which kinda worked out so I’m happy there. I tried getting MO but he was just too hard to get which was kind of sad. Then I went after CC and we had talks but never actually pulled the trigger on anything so yeah. I mean I have quite a few Yankees so im happy with that.. I don’t have all the ones I wanted like Andy CC Mo Cone O’niel but going forward I like the yankee core of cano arod and jeter no doubt…. Who knows I might keep going after the other guys.
Me - Granderson? I thought for sure hed be up there. Ya, the Yankees have had so much talent over the last 15 years. Crazy stuff. But ya you got all the main guys, and if you wanted CC and Mo I think you could get them. Especially considering the other Yankee fans here. Good job for sure. And theyre studs!
7. Derek Jeter at 2B is kinda nightmarish. Cano is coming up soon. For 1 million dollars in board cash Ill tell you a trick on how to move Jeter to 3B in ST! This isnt really a question so please just do some filler in here. Talk about Stamos or Grandma.
Nanz - LOL did anyone see Stamos have the Jesse and Rippers reunion on fallon? It was by far the best 10 minutes of my life. He was looking sexy as hell and just like Stamos would. The guy is like wine gets my dick harder and harder with age. As far as my 2b LOL ummm im moving jeter to ss and arod to 3b when cano moves upNO DOUBT. That’s the yankee way and that’s the way we do it baby! If you have a way to move one of them to 3b without spending any of their talents I would love you forever and would let you wear my autograph stamos leather jacket for 2 hours.. best 2 hours of your life. No idea why you said Jeter at 2b is nightmarish btw its like what is your deal? He is ine there! He can play 2nd with his eyes closed wtf. Whats your deal spence.
Me - Im not telling you my trick now. Fuck off.
8. Speaking of Grandma, why is she such an important part of your sim league strategy and your life in general? Any pics? Bikini pics preferably. Thanks.
Nanz - Lord lord lord Grandma… We’ll Waldo knows just as good as I do about grandma. She was just a wild woman… anything she said went. Her word is the law. So as you can imagine shes a big part of all of our lives. Monday nights was the best. She would bathe us and play games with us. Tickle monster and a twist is what she called it. Anything went! Everything was fair game! Hands, feet, tongues you know it! Lord it was a good time. But with the good came the bad… lord when grandma used to get made it was hold on to your rocking chair! Strap on your boots and pad you ass cause here comes the stick! The variety of sticks would change but its all good I learned a lot.
Me - Wow. What a freak. Didnt realize. Sounds like you got the fast track to manhood with ol Grandma. I like the idea of a variety of sticks too. Dont wanna settle down with one stick until youve tried a good majority of them.
9. You have so much offensive talent. Ross/Votto/Cano/Jeter/ARod/Crawford/Swisher/Nixon/Dye. Whats your ideal batting order? Why? Reasons. Etc.
Nanz - Back to baseball I see! Alright this is a good question because I’m not even sure on how I’m gonna do this thang… I would probably lead off with Nixon. The guy has brilliant hits and although it would probably make more sense to bat Jeter here.. Jeter is batting 2nd. The best number 2 guy in the history of the game baby! Two guy on the top of the order that will get on base a ton for the guys hitting behind them…. YUM. Ross will hit third. Best hitter we got the man will rake this year theres not doubt about that one. Arod hitting 4th… boy. His homers went up last year and he started to hit the shit out of the ball. Ended up with 30+ dingers which I didn’t think would happen after that bad start he had. 5th comes Cano. He should be ready to hit the ball this year and I look forward to seeing what he can do. 6th in the lineup is Dye. Not the best of years for this guy but he started to pick it up late in the season and I think he will be a lot better this year. 7th in the order is Votto. I hope my main man is ready come up next year. He will be a top of the order guy.. maybe number 2 with Jeter leading off but as of right now he will bat 7th so he can get used to the majors. 8th in the lineup will be Swisher. Solid batter nothing great but a great piece for us especially batting 8th. I’m probably going to raise his hits to GOOD which will make him much more valuable so we will see where we are later in the season. 9th and last in the order is Crawford. This guy is a stud and I love him to death. Having him be our second lead off hitter is great. He should probably lead off for us but lord he is gonna be great at the 9 spot. So lets get some recap action:
Nixon, Jeter, Ross, Arod, Cano, Dye, Votto, Swisher and Crawford.
YEEEEE sick sick sick sick.
Me - Wow. Too much talent. Jeter has to be 1 though. He gets on all the time. Let him bat 1 and score 125 a year! Nixon is meh. Id bat him way down. Cato 2. ARod 3. Votto4. Ross 5. Nixon 6. Dye 7. Swisher 8. Crawford 9. Sick lineup. 1000 runs a year.
10. Lets look at your starting rotation too. Who goes Opening Day? What is your 1-5 SPs? Who is your closer? Primary set up man? Middle reliever?
Nanz - Well that’s an easy question my man! First off we have the long time Mariner leading the way for our squad. He is probably not our best pitcher but here in seattle we are loyal people and Sori is a long time member of our squad and good so yeah he will kick it off no doubt. Number 2 for us will be RICH HARDEN. The man is gonna be astud and he came up and had a solid year last year. He is a stud and got better in the off-season. I can’t wait to see the kind of season he will put up for us… should be a sick number 2. Number 3 for us is one of the most anticipated debuts in the history of everything LOL KROD! He should be sick. He still has to improve in walks and Ks but lord he should be sick everywhere else. Im gonna up his duration to C which should only make him even better. LORD I can’t wait for this guy to come up and see what he can do. Number 4 for us is Fultz. Closed the season on a hot streak and since I IRI his hits he has been so freaking good. He as a number 4 is just nasty on any staff without question. Lastly we have Myette as our number 5. This guy should be a solid pitcher without question. He will be good across the board once I TIA and with his A duration… he should be a work force for us. So there you have our Rotation SORIANO HARDEN KROD FULTZ & MYETTE.
Closer: I mean this is a pretty easy question… Foulke. He is just so nasty and even though marte is sick he is just the answer for us at Closer. That’s just better for us because now Marte can be our setup man and he is also nasty as shit. That leaves us with pretty much Frasor and Fuentes as our middle relievers which is pretty sweet YEEE I really like these four guys so I think our bullpen is pretty well built no doubt.
Me - I think you need a couple more SPs tbh. I like your top 3 but after that Im not sold. Plus you need pen depth. You have an awesome 8/9 combo but if your SP go 4 youre screwed. Need some talented long relievers types.
11. What are your chances in the AL West this year? Can you win the division? Think youll make a run at the AL Crown? If no when do you expect to compete at that level?
Nanz - I think we will win the division no doubt. We have so much talent waiting to come up and perform. If we don’t its mainly because we are under performing and by we I mean the rookies we have coming up. To be honest I think we won last year LOL by that formula thing we had more wins than anyone else in the division. I don’t really care because now we have a higher pick but yeah… considering how weak our division is with OAK rebuilding and TEX doing whatever the hell its doing we should be fine. I doubt we make a run at the Al crown this year tho… we are just too young and too raw. I think another year for my guys to develop will put us up there without question. If we do its gonna be on our pitching… these guys seem to be ready to perform and I can’t wait to see them this year. Arod and Ross should carry the offense and if everything goes perfectly we will make a run but I doubt it does.
Me - I think OAK will give you more problems then you anticipate. But overall ya, youre the team to beat IMO. Texas and Anaheim are rebuilding. Oakland should come up this year though. Love that team. Should be an amazing two team race for a couple years.
12. Name 1 thing youve learned about OOTP5 that you didnt know from previous stints in BBSBL? Why is this important?
Nanz - Ummmm well the previous stint was just BBSBL1 right? LOL that was a fun fun fun fun league!I don’t think I’ve really learned anything out of the ordinary that I didn’t know before. I still don’t know anything about our strategies thing on OOTP I just kinda go with the flow. Im sure that’s costing us games so LOL at me for not looking into it. Its not so much what we didn’t know but more that we have added a ton of things this time around which make the league a lot better. TIA and shit is just so good to have and PD reversals are key. You have to get with the league and learn as you go. I know Erbes is gonna be adding a lot fo stuff in the future and I can’t wait to see how it goes and how long this league lasts YEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me - Wow. Amazed you haven't picked one thing up about OOTP. We wont need to worry about you being a championship contender. Anyone that knows OOTP a little will kick your ass in the playoffs.
