Power Falling short of Talent Leads to Bringing Fences In
Minnesota (AP) - With the Minnesota Twins failing to attract talent and home-runs, the organization has decided to shorten the distance of the outfield walls all around Target Field. There might not be a ballpark in the whole league that caters to its players talents less than Target Field and GM George Brash feels it is a necessary measure to ensure a successful future, "Over the past couple years I have failed to attract free agents to the franchise despite offering them considerably more than market value and considerably more than what they ended up signing for, so I am looking to rectify the situation. It seems hitters are scared to sign with us due to their inability to rack up power numbers." There is no better example than the failures of their biggest bats, Kouzmanoff and Jones, who have failed to combine for 40 home-runs during their tenure together despite having the skills to hit 30 each.
As expected, no one seems more excited than their star at first base, Garret Jones, "I am so ecstatic over the change of dimensions. I can definitely see myself staying here for the long haul now. I was getting frustrated by all the balls I was hitting off the wall as it just seemed like every ball i was putting a charge into was just ending up in a double. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to have 50+ doubles every year, but we all know the money is in the home run numbers and I am glad the organization has decided to cater to my skills in moving the fences in." Of course, the organization expects their opponents to hit better also, but GM George Brash intends and hopes that these dimensions make the ballpark as neutral as possible so that no one has an advantage on a day to day basis. The Twins management seems to have the organization going in the right direction and this is just another step in that direction. The fans should expect to see a few more fireworks in the ballpark when they attend games next year, hopefully it will lead to more wins. Only time will tell.
The Twins have announced the details as follows:
Minnesota Twins | LF Line: 315 ft. LF: 340 ft LCF: 370 ft CF: 400 ft RCF: 370 ft RF 340 ft RF Line: 315 ft. | Height of walls: 7 feet |Method of Payment: Stadium Account
