For a minute I thought that said Ghostface Killah was one of the softest rappers and I was gonna be like hell no cuz Starks is nice. Anyway, I doubt the real Ghostface Killah actually said that, but if he did, that's funny.

Define real music. And if it envolves some hick singin about his or her ex, truck, dog, or tracker you will be slapped...

I would love to hear what some people consider "real" music.

They've just had their own struggles and feel they can relate to the struggles those rappers faced in one way or another. They are not the same struggles or even the same degree of struggles, but they are struggles nonetheless. Everyone has their own perception of things. I love rap because when I'm sad or angry, listening to it reminds me that I'm not alone being unhappy and helps me channel my anger inside and I feel better after listening to it. It soothes me in a way.

I would love to hear what some people consider "real" music. The rappers that I believe represent "real rap" are the ones that rhyme from the heart to explain how they overcame their struggles and talk about issues affecting all kinds of people. Those with amazing flows and lyricism represent "real rap" as well. However, those that simply rap just to make a shit ton of money I don't have anywhere near as much respect for, and that is why rap today isn't the same as it was in like the 90s. The "rhyming from the heart" concept could be applied to all genres of music too. The best in the business don't do what they do just to get money. They are doing it all for a reason. They want to help the change the world and make it a better place. They all have their own unique way of doing and that is what makes good music so beautiful.

That's the thing though. A lot of people would say the same thing you just said and rap is much more than just that. If you listen to some of the better and older rap, that stuff is about getting through hard times and trying to make the world a better place. Rappers like Tupac, DMX, Eminem, Styles P, Jadakiss, and Raekwon all pour their hearts and souls into just about every record they make. Sure they will mention references to women, money, guns, weed, alcohol and shit like that, but that's just some parts of the hip hop culture. They know people will wanna hear that so they do that, but at the same time, they will keep it real and speak their minds on what they have gone through and how they could motivate others to make their lives better by not repeating the same mistakes they have made. Rap isn't for everyone. I will admit that, but if you look at it in multiple perspectives, anyone could respect and appreciate it.
