Never understood how Rollie Fingers and Dennis Eckersley won MVP Awards in their careers. Willie Hernandez too for Tigers.

Closers are very important and pitch usually a few times a week on a contending team, but MVP's to me are either everyday hitters or a pitcher that played such a significant role in a team's success.

Closers are very important and pitch usually a few times a week on a contending team, but MVP's to me are either everyday hitters or a pitcher that played such a significant role in a team's success. he had played a significant role Closers nowadays only pitch if it's a 3-run lead or less, which means they don't pitch in every single win. There is no set amount of days they'll pitch. They pitch based on the results of an ongoing game. If a team is losing, they almost certainly won't pitch.
