Also the problem that cops accuracy with their weapon is extremely poor: thefreethoughtproject.com/15-year-old-bystander-shot-police-nearby-toy-gun/I remember reading a report that CCW carriers are much more accurate with their guns than cops, and that is a problem. Here it is: "Fact: About 11% of police shootings kill an innocent person – about 2% of shootings by citizens kill an innocent person. The odds of a defensive gun user killing an innocent person are less than 1 in 26,000. And that is with citizens using guns to prevent crimes almost 2,500,000 times every year."

There are some people in my department that cant shoot for shit. Which is unfortunate, the problem is lack of funding and range time. Some officers are only required to shoot two times a year. I and a lot of the former military guys we shoot all the time to keep proficient, for the time we ever have to use our firearm....However, there are officer I know who I would be scared shitless if they "had my back" if the shit hit the fan

There are cops who do not take time to stay proficent. I know it is a problem in my department and im a huge advocate to change it...if I ever need assistance...I want that officer to be able to hit their target

you are linking stories because when a cop fucks up, or when a cop goes rogue etc, it makes news...but your standard by the book cop, not so much.
Unions protect police offers, just like they protect dock workers, NBA players, Electricians, teachers, no matter right or wrong.

In my home city, there was a cop fired for lying in investigations, which resulted in the inability for him to write tickets, as well as making his testimony in any investigation completely inadmissable, county would not consider anything he did valid, as they should..Problem is, the union took up the case, and it was 4 years before the city finally received the ability to fire him (as the judge ordered the revocation of his certificate)
