US sucks. If they ever want to be competitive they need to line their domestic (MLS) schedule up with the rest of the world. That wouldn't matter, lol It absolutely matters. You can't attract big international players by playing opposite schedule of everyone in the world. If you can't attract better players then your players don't get better. All we get are old players way past their prime who know they can come into the MLS and dominate for another couple of years. It's embarrassing.

We live here so we don't think it's cool, but you're telling me big time guys wouldn't want to play in NYC or LA? They absolutely would. Klinsmann even said at one point that the US suffers because we don't play on the same schedule as everyone else. Said guys on the German int'l team would come over, but they didn't want to lose important training time for international competitions.

Playing better competition helps, but it won't make a difference IMO

all of our best athletes are playing football and basketball exactly lol, futbol isn't about athleticism like these other sports. It's more about skill, 40 times, bench presses, everything we glamorize in america aren't requisites for futbol. We just don't have players with the skill needed to be great futbol players.

if lebron was a soccer player obviously not if he just tried to play him now. didnt think iwould have to clarify that even if he started as a youth. He don't have the skill. He can't even develop the elite footwork to learn basketball moves, what makes you think he would last in soccer.

yea imagine if someone like lebron or bo jackson grew up training to be soccer or hockey players they would suck bro. It's a completely different skill needed. They'd have to change their bodies and fitness, which is what makes them great in the first place.

US sucks. If they ever want to be competitive they need to line their domestic (MLS) schedule up with the rest of the world. World Cup is going to be wide open this year. I've seen 6-7 'experts'' brackets and they had 5 different winners. Should be lots of fun. lol, the MLS will always be a whack league, it's not about lining up schedules, it's about getting them started at an early age. The whole progression in this country from high school to college to minors to professional isn't conducive to breeding top tier futbol talent. In europe, professional teams sign these guys at 13/14/15 and put them in their academies to learn the ropes. We dont do that here, we feel the need to align their professional careers with their educational progression and that doesn't work. The best players are those that treat the sport as a profession from an early age. Leonel Messi signed with Barcelona at the age of 12. Cristiano Ronaldo signed with his first professional team at the age of 9. High School basketball players that leave early to play in Europe get roasted for doing that kind of shit here, it's just a different culture. The rest of the world just has a head start as far as grooming players. We don't get a hold of players until they're like 17 or so and by then it's too late for them to really become superstars that are needed to compete at the world cup stage.

so you're saying if soccer was our only sport the team would still suck? if we still have the same high school -> college -> minors -> majors progression as we currently do then yes. The whole system needs to change.
