Pedroia's top SB season was 26. Caught stealing 8 times. Roberts' top SB season was 50. Caught stealing 7 times. Wright's top SB season was 34. Caught stealing 5 times. Why is Pedroia comparable to those two guys? Pedroia at 76% (Wright's career %) Roberts and Wright at 87% for those seasons. Yep Pedroia is definitely a B.

Pedroia got the same speed he gave David Wright, its underrating him, but its Erbes choice

I'll take that as your white flag since you keep hoisting it up. Thanks.

We both know I'm right. You're using one season as a career reference because it's to your advantage. I'm done arguing with a brick wall.

Lol I've given you career stats already!! 79% to 76%!!! What's the difference!?!?!

It's closer to the B you gave Roberts than the C you gave Wright?

It's closer to the B you gave Roberts than the C you gave Wright? Because Roberts has 6 seasons of 27+ SBs or more!?! And it should be more if he wasn't hurt all the time. And where did I ever say I use 80% as the threshold?? Never did I even mention SBs in the email I sent you.

Wright has two seasons of 27+ SBs just as an FYI.
If anything, I underrated his speed.

Stop using singular season stats in an argument about careers lol

Those are career stats. I'm talking about 6 seasons of more success than Pedroia has ever had.

I'm talking about simple baserunning ability. Pedroia is a smarter runner than Wright, and close to Roberts in the regard. We're not talking about how many times he ran from first to second.

Fine let's really use career stats...
Pedroia has 119 stolen bases in what amounts to his first 7 seasons in the bigs.
Wright has 138 stolen bases in his first 7 seasons in the bigs.
Roberts had 186 stolen bases in his first 7 seasons in the bigs.
How am I doing?

Using exactly what I said you shouldn't use to measure baserunning ability?

I'm talking about simple baserunning ability. Pedroia is a smarter runner than Wright, and close to Roberts in the regard. We're not talking about how many times he ran from first to second. He's only 3% better than Wright!?! I'm not sure how that's not a big difference, but 5% is?

You admitted to underrating Wright but admit Pedroia is 3% above him. I rest my case.

And also if I was using a threshold of 80%, guess what? Pedroia is at 79%. He doesn't cut it.

You admitted to underrating Wright but admit Pedroia is 3% above him. I rest my case. I admitted that I didn't give Wright enough speed, not stealing ability.

No Wright probably should have been D/B too.

Why would he be a B?

Post by Saitama on Oct 24, 2013 10:01:16 GMT -5
Anything above average should be a B. 75% is the average.

I reserve B and A's for known basestealers... Ellsbury, Rajai Davis, etc. If I started to give Wright and Pedroia those grades they'd be stealing 50-60 bases per year. You love realism, why would you want that?
