Here is a look ahead to the top 5 prospects in the 2001 Draft Class!
1. Joe Mauer

What a stud. An absolute beast of a hitter and he plays C! No brainer first pick unless SNB gets the first pick. Injuries have derailed him which makes you wonder if he'll be prone? COuld make the pick more interesting. Hes a 800+ OPS guy at C though. Also an above average arm behind the plate.
Potential Talents?
B G F A G B? Pretty impressive.
2. Mark Texiera

Another stud hitter. Has kinda cooled the last couple year in New York but still a very good power hitter. Someone you expect 30 HR and 100 RBI out of. Plays Gold Glove caliber defense at 1B. Played a little bit at 3B too. AT 1B hes a very good 2 way player. Another 800+ OPS guy.
Potential Talents?
G B F B B A? Good stuff.
3. Dan Haren

Haren is a very good SP. 1 or 2 type. Eats up innings. 7 years over 215 IP. ERA usually hovers between 3-4. Very good control. Not a plus strikeout pitcher but solid, and his K to BB ratio is very nice.

4. David Wright

Five tool type talent. Very good hitter and defender that can run. Pretty rare as a 3B. Also pretty reliable up until a couple years ago. 300-30-100 type guy that can also add Gold Glove defense and 15-20 SBs. Cant really match that at 3B. Probable #1 pick if COL gets his hands on it.
Potential Talents?
G G F G B A. Walks might only be good, but its close.
5. Ryan Howard

Howard is a huge man with amazing power. Plus plus power hitter. An easy brilliant talent. Not much of an actual average hitter. Mediocre defender. Strikes out too much. Huge power potential though and he walks a good amount.
