Laying down some new rules and what not from the Winter Meetings discussion.
1. Cash Rewards
I only added complete game shut outs. After reading through all of the rewards I'm satisfied with the amount of ways to earn cash right now. I thought I was missing more in-game events, but I'm not.
2. Financial Probation
Teams that end the season with a negative cash balance will be placed on financial probation and are subject to the following penalties:
- They will not be able to sign any free agents.
- They will not be able to add salary through trades or waivers.
- They have one season to get back to a positive cash balance.
- Getting to a positive cash balance during the season does not necessarily mean you are off financial probation. You have to make a legitimate effort to avoid financial probation in the future. These efforts will be judged by me alone.
3. Banks
Ashes has graciously taken over the job and is getting paid $5M in board cash to do it. Thanks!
4. Tanking
I'm shifting the tanking rule to 3 season of 100+ games OR 2 seasons of 110+ games OR 1 season of 120+ games. I think that's fair for now. People will want harsher penalties, but they're good for now.
5. Draft Creation
I've complained about this a lot. It's very time consuming. If Chris can get the Lahman database to work to give me a shell then that's amazing. If not, I'll continue to use Gambo. By importing from these databases there's no need for me to bring more people into the fold. The only drawback is that we'll have to wait for the file flip each season. Not the worst thing when it only takes me a few hours to get the draft class finalized.
6. Extensions
I liked Broph/Play's idea. When a player says that he is done talking to you, you get one final offer. It's pretty insane that some players say no and then continue to field offers. Not realistic.
7. Lineup Moderators
I like this as well. I want one guy from the AL to police teams in the NL, and vice versa. The job will pay $1M per season. I will not give the job to people who already have or had a job at one point.
8. Lineups
Now that we have lineup mods we need lineup rules. These rules will be enforced more for teams who are blatantly tanking. Here they are:
- At all times you must have at least 23 players on your team.
- You must have at least a 3 man rotation with at least 6 middle relievers.
- You must field a full lineup with backups.
- You can play players out of position only if it 'makes sense'. This will be at the discretion of myself and the lineup mods. For example, a RF can play CF, but can't play SS. A SS can play 2B, but he can't play CF.
9. On Board Cash Bank
Raising the season limit to $15M to accomodate for longer injuries.
10. Career Ending Injuries
I hate to admit it, but Spencer's idea is pretty fun. Here it is with some tweaks:
- CEI goes to a number generator between 365 and 730.
- Whatever PDs happen over that time happen. They cannot be reversed.
I'm sure I missed a few things and/or didn't do exactly what people wanted, but I'm happy with these 10 changes. That's quite a few adjustment for one season. I'll get all of the corresponding posts updated later today.
Thank you for the participation!
