Hello FOLKS! Here is another interview! LOL this time with the Braves GM !!! We tried to keep it interesting and fun so i hope ya'll enjoy the read TO make it easier I made the questions BLUE, His answers BLACK and mine RED. Hope you all enjoy and i hope broph sees the effort YEEEEEEEEE
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
1) Lets get down to business... Some personal business lol. Tell us about yourself. Maybe you have but I don't remember and I'm intrigued to know what you do, passions, goals , dreams etc. let us get a real look at how you are as a person.
34, Jr high Science teacher, coach volleyball, jr high girls basketball, jr high track and high school track. Single as single can be. Have a 6 year old chocolate lab, live with my brother (gotta get rent somehow), no kids (that I've been told of to this point)...hate friend trades, getting tired of seeing how some of these trades go down overall.
Damn that sounds like a good time. Holy shit at the amount of coaching you do though LOL damn. Fun fact me and the bros here played vball at the Y and it was freaking awesome. It looks like a stupid sport but in reality its so sick. As far as high school chicks… there have to be some hot ones there that are def bangable. Are you the hot teacher they all want to bang or a creepy one LOL that’s the real key to this questions.
2) Alright lets talk baseball. Lets get down to real business. I'd like to get your take on shale. I know he sometimes says some pretty ridiculous stuf but at the same time I feel people pick on him because he is an easy target. Some come off as bullies others as followers and others as funny. What do you think about the hole situation ? Do you think he get abused way too much? No? If so who takes it too far.
Eh, I'm gonna leave this one short and sweet...does he get picked on some? Yeah, probably. Does he bring the majority of it on himself? Yeah, probably. David Wright sucks donkey balls.
Damn the really was short and sweet LOL. I think he gets the short end of the stick. Honestly I think people pick on him way too much but then I’ll read a post and be like ummm LOL. Its one thing to troll the guy but sometimes it gets to a point where its bullying “AND THAT AINT COOL” Stamos. But yeah everyone just needs to relax and realize we all react to things differently so ease up. Also a wise man once told me don’t judge a man until you smell his shoes because you don’t know how much he really sweats or if he wears cleans socks in the morning.
3) lets get funky. I'm gonna give you some names and rank them 1-5. Erbes, Play, Broph, Waldo, and break. All gms have their strengths and accomplishments in the league. Tell us how you rank them and why.
1. Erbes (why not suck up to the commish when you can?)
2. Waldo, solid GM. Doesn't get the credit he deserves sometimes. Probably because he doesn't post useless crap that most like.
3. Play. Hate the fact that he's the CubsGM. Being a Cardinals fan, the last thing I want to see anywhere in my life is the Cubs winning a World Series title, but he's going to get one soon for the Chubbies.
4. Broph Another solid GM, probably would have been higher on the list if any other names had been picked. Done a fine job in OakTown
5. Break. Guess he's rebuilding since Cleveland is trying to compete? Going to flip flop things the other way and help him out now? Funny that Jeff (who hardly every posts anything) is set on trolling him for the multiple times break has tried to call him out and say he should quit, be fired, etc.
Honestly 1-4 could go about anyway and I'd not say much. Erbes has done a great job putting up with all the different people in the league at times. Broph/Play/Waldo could all be at 2. Break would be 5 at any point in time.
That’s not a bad list. I think I would go with Waldo, Play, Erbes, Broph and Break. Waldo goes way under the radar. He had a rough up bringing with grandma but that’s only made him tougher. He doesn’t post a whole lot but he has built a damn good team after years of rebuilding. He hasn’t won anything and that’s the only knock but yeah. Play is two for me. Great team and a great GM and I think he finally gets his ring this year so he will jump to one. Broph has one a ring and that alone could make anyone wanna put him at the top of this list but hey ill go 3 here. To me these 3 guys could go in any order, it depends how much weight you wanna give Brophs ring and all that bull. Erbes 4 for me cause you just can’t ignore the Yankees and their market. If he changes teams with me and keeps winning he jumps to one no doubt. Break is the last one without question. He was won a ton of games but meh with all those friend trades its like lol sorry bro
4) lets talk about the trade that did not go down between the marlins and the expos. A lot of people were saying that it was a pretty fishy move by play to move cc to one of his best Friends in the league. What were your thoughts on the matter? Do you think play meant to help out a friend or just thought he was making a good move for th marlins? Would you have made the trade ? Go
Don't know the entire detailed package in the trade, but I thought that play was just keeping the team going (exporting, spending cash if needed, claiming things, etc). Didn't realize he was also in charge of the team and able to make trades. Never been a fan of guys basically running two teams like that. Exporting and doing the small things is no issue...trading is pushing the envelope in my opinion.
Dealing for stud pitching is usually a good idea, but in this league I probably would have kept the offense and got pitching later. It would have become available, just have to wait for the right moment.
Yeah I didn’t expect Play to make a huge deal like that for Ashes. I think it’s a good idea to leave the team untouched until he gets back unless something huge happens… like a guy not wanting to resign etc. At the same time I don’t think it was sketchy for play to deal him to Styro. I mean if that’s the best offer he got then sure… I don’t think Play would pull something shady like that. I really don’t think he would. He shouldn’t have made the deal but yeah nothing shady from him I do declare!
5) lets talk about your OOTP strategy. When you build teams is there something you look for right off the bat? Dominant pitchers? Dominant defenses ? Balanced? Do you play around with the strategies in the game ? Hit and run ? Bunt ?pull pitchers late? Gor]
Love pitching. Usually try to build my pitching staff as quickly as possible and then fill in offense later. If I'd have known how hard it was going to be to acquire offense, I'd have done the exact opposite.
I do tinker with the strategies, what I do just depends on the makeup of my team. If I've got speed, I utilize steals more. If not, I try for the hit and run more. Pulling pitchers depends on my staff. Usually wait on my starters and quick hooks on my pen guys.
Yeah ive always been a hitter type of guy no doubt. Chicks love the long ball and im no different lol. Pitching Ive always felt you can find good guys pretty easily… lately ive been seeing that relievers are hard to get because they are not that valuable but then again the people that have good ones just don’t wanna let them go. As far as strategies… yeah I have no idea what works lol. I guess I could tinker more with my hit and run and stealing but I just don’t know enough. I don’t wanna make a hitter like Ross and Arod hit and run because I want them to take their time hitting bombs LOL Yeah strategies ive never really gone into a whole lot in OOTP.
6) lets get a little bit into your team... You have chipper on the block. Now, is this a legit block or are you just playin just the tip? Lets get get a little dirty dirty! Give me 3 legit offers you would take right now for him. Any team wether they have contacted you or not. 3 legit offers so don't get too crazy lol
Chipper is on the block, but it's got to be a franchise trading move for me. Probably would need 2 stud prospects to move him at this point. He's still relatively young, nice contract for the production, and plays a premium position at SS.
3 legit offers? 2 stud offensive players...one IF, one OF or one C and one of the others. Is it going to happen? Probably not. Everyone says I ask for too much, and then I see some trades happen and am just amazed.
LOL I would say so! Cano Votto? LOL damn that’s a lot. Also I have Jeter and Arod sooo yeah its like short stops much? HILAR. Two best short stops live in seattle. HILAR. I think you are def asking for a bit too much, I bet you get one legit stud and solid pieces. That’s the market. SF 05 1st SF 05 2nd Joseph Jackson Tim Harrikala and Nook Logan. That’s what Spence was looking to give for an upgrade so lol.
7) You are currently sitting at first place in the NL East. It seems that a bunch of team could make a push to try to grab the division... DO you consider yourself the favorite to win it? Why or why not? What moves are you looking to make to improve your squad and who do you think is the best or 2nd best team in your division?
I'm not quite sure how I'm in first at this point. Love my pitching...offense is sketchy. Hopefully adding O'Henry back to the fold will help the boys pick things up and maybe help back Chipper up some.
Right now I'd say one of Florida/Montreal is the favorite. James has finally done some things to make the Mets worthy of a mention. Philly you can never count out with Buhner, he's a crafty OOTP vet. If I'm lucky enough to stay in the hunt, I love my 1-2 punch of Lincoln/Cordova.[/
Yup not gonna lie no clue how you remain in first but its early. I think the Marlins come in as the favorites and should win the devision. Styro has a good team no doubt but I like the Marlins (hopefully with Ashes back soon) to take it. The mets are the nice surprise staying above 500. Love the team my friend has put together and they are only gonna get better with time. Should be a pretty damn competitive division for years to come. Love it.
8) Lets get a lil naughty. Not sure if you actually know anyone here in real life but if you do you can't use this in this question! Give me a GM for the following and why you pick them: A Gm you would love to grab a beer and shoot the shit at a bar. A GM you would like to have as a wing man and go pick up some broads!. A GM you would like to tbag... maybe give them a gorilla mask (glue your pubes on their face... always sunny LOL). ]
I do know Jeff here in real life. Spent a few baseball vacation trips with him and his family the past 4 summers (I think?). Also have a few more planned for the next summers to hopefully knock out the last 16 ballparks I need to get to to finish off all 30.
GM I'd like to grab a beer with: Jah. Seems like a standup guy. Probably should have seen if he was free this summer while I was at Camden since he's in the neighborhood.
Wingman GM: Steve. Even though he's a Brewers fan, I'd guess he's a ladies man as well.
Gorilla mask: Tough call. Probably break or shale. Bet they'll complain about this one too. (just kidding guys, but I had to pick someone)
Damn I didn’t know you and jeff were that close, that’s pretty cool tho. Ummm def grab beer with Spence because that’s the easiest since hes like a grandpa to me LOL. Def LOL at steve being your wingman cause yeah hilar. I would go with (excluding my friends) Shale. LOL tough I feel like I could really pick up the slack and look awesome for the girls. Gorilla mask ummmmm styro no doubt lol.
9) Lets look at some prospects. There are a ton of good up and coming 1b in the league it seems. Just looking at the top prospects 7 of the top 14 are 1b. Lets take out Miggy because we just know he is a beast and would go first BUT out of the following who would you rather have and why?Adrian Gonzalez, Joey Votto, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard. Rank them!!!
1. Adrian
1a. Prince
1b. Howard
1c. Votto
How's that for dodging a question? In all honesty I'd take any of them on my team. All seem to be legit defenders. Would love a brilliant hitting lefty in my park. They'd be a first ballot hall of famer with the ratings my park has for left handed homeruns.
If I had to order them I'd probably go:
1. Ryan Howard. Good defender. Key to him is his loyalty. Always nice to have the loyal guys. Usually give the hometown discount on extensions.
2. Prince. Great defender, average loyalty, good consistency.
3. Votto. Stud hitter. Gold Glove defender. Probably will have the most balanced lefty/righty splits.
4. Adrian. Very inconsistent can be bad at times, but that can be fixed with some board cash.
I would go with Votto first because I have him LOL but Adrian is right there with him no doubt. Howard and Prince are nice but yeah I don’t think they go with Adrian and Votto. Should be interesting to see how these guys turn out but I would case them as Votto and Adrian vs Prince and Ryan.
]
10. Next question is about them damn articles! People have been complaining about what is a 5 and what actually deserves a 5. Lord knows ive spent 10 years coming up with these questions so far but what do you think about the new system. Do you think Broph is the right man for the job? Do you think he is being too hard on interviews? Do you think any changes need to be made.
The system was broken. Too many people handing out 5's just because. I can't say how good a job he's done so far because I've not really made it a point to read them since we don't vote....and that's mainly with school starting and volleyball going on right now. Makes for some 12-14 hour days at times with practice and games.
As long as he's putting the time in and reading all of them, I'd say he's the right man for the job. He's always been straight forward with me in trade talks, and that's about all I've got to go on to see if he's the right man for the job.
I think its just tough to know exactly what he is looking for. Interviews get a bad rap and just because this is one of them I bet we get 4 mil when in reality this took a while LOL. People think Broph is not the right man for the job and I was one of them btu then again who would be? Spence? Aaron? Me? Sure lol. 5s are gonna be tough to come by and at the end of the day I guess that’s what we want.
11) Yankees have the best record in the league. Their pitching has been phenomenal and their bullpen is lights out. They have the most runs scored so far and they are top 10 in ERA homers BA. DO you think they are just off to a hot start or do you think they are the team to beat? Who in the East can challenge them and who in the NL do you think matches up best against them.]
I'd say it's going to be a battle of the East's in the World Series. Yankees and the Braves (ok, probably not, but I can dream, right?) AL East challengers will be the typically tough Orioles, he'll have the CWS in the Central and probably the A's out West. NL East is going to be tough again, not sure who'll come out on top. It kills me to say the Cubs in the Central and the Giants will continue to reign out West, once SD realizes he can't keep that payroll in tact for a long term
I think its gonna be Yanks vs Cubs. The White Sox with that injury to their SP taveraz is gonna hurt. O’s are gonna be a tough match up for them but Yanks I believe are the better team. The cubs with the JD Drew trade I thought were done but he turned around and got more studs. Cubs Yanks in the WS!
12) You missed out on the season predictions so lets hear them out! Who do you have winning each division? Who do you think will win the CY Young and MVP in each league? And lastly who is you WS champion?[r]
Just answered most of this, but in easier format:
AL East: NYY
AL Central: CWS
AL West: Oakland
Wild Card: Baltimore
NL East: Montreal
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Giants
Wild Card: Florida
World Series will be NYY and SF. I'm going to say commish pulls this one out.
NL Cy Young: (my homer pick) Mike Lincoln
NL MVP: Vladdy pulls it out.
AL Cy Young: Will Cunnane
AL MVP: Old Man Larry Walker proves he can hit better outside of Coors.
He should get the money for this now ! LOL
13) lets close this out by telling Broph why we deserve a 5. Tell the league what you like about it and what you hate about it. Just vent a little and i know its the last question but lets see some heat
It deserves a 5 because Nanz actually is showing some initiative and participating. Only thing that would have made it better is if it was a roundtable with the Dodgers and the horribly inactive TwinsGM.
Like the fact that I'm in first right now.
Hate the whiners, the pace and the friend trades. Pace isn't bad...but I already know I'm going to fall behind again since school has started. Not too bad now, but once October hits I'll have two practices to go to along with trying to keep up with Jr high kids and regular school work.
There you have it folks! I tried to make this interesting with questions that people might want to see answered. Thanks to our main man for taking the time to answer these questions and I hope Broph sees we really tried our best to get a 5!! YEEEE
